I'm dreadful at drawing and a child-like painter with a successful academic background in Multimedia Art and Textile Design; those that know me will agree that I've always been a bit 'arty' in a rather unothordox way. Left to my own devices, I would be found sculpting unidentifiable things using reams of fuse wire, a staple gun and the resulting substance that came from melting black, plastic bin bags with an iron.
I discovered my 'true' medium at College when I embarked on an 'A' Level Course in Photography, in the hopes of trying something new. A camera and a thirst for learning and improvement have been my constant companions ever since.
Away from my passion for photography, I'm also a formally-trained Web Designer with letters after my name and everything. I create attractive, user-friendly, accessible websites that feed the eyes and aim to not strain the brain. I also write a lot and specialise in short, gritty fiction and witty blog entries. Some people say my writing style is really funny and entertaining. I tend to agree with them.
An advocate of life-long learning, I am now studying part-time with the Open University to gain a BA (Hons) Open Degree to compliment my existing qualifications.
It is worth noting that receiving email makes me all warm and fuzzy, so feel free to send messages to this address: email@clairephipps.com
Originally schooled in the great tradition of 35mm black and white film, darkrooms and chemical tanks; I now shoot soley in digital format. My 'negs' are RAW and Adobe Photoshop Elements is my darkroom of choice.
A Nikon girl at heart, the details of my current kit are as follows:
